As a part of Langara’s Sexual Violence Support and Education Program the Office of Student Conduct and Academic Integrity is offering a series of workshops designed to provide students with a thorough understanding of themes related to sexual violence and its prevention.  Students will learn to proactively address and prevent incidents of sexualized violence according to Langara's policies.

Consent Training: 60 mins.

This workshop will provide students with an understanding of consent using the ‘RESPECT’ acronym. Students will also unpack common myths around consent that perpetuate sexual violence. Participants will also learn how to practice consent in their relationships and beyond.

Understanding Sexual Harassment:  60 mins.

This workshop will provide students with a better understanding of what sexual harassment is and what actions or behaviours might be considered sexual harassment.  Students will also learn about resources available if they believe they have experienced sexual harassment.

Bystander Intervention: 60 mins.

In this workshop students will learn practical skills that will help them identify and intervene in incidents of sexual violence when they occur.  They will also explore ways to prevent sexual violence that will help create a safer campus.

How to Respond to a Disclosure of Sexual Violence: 60 mins.

Using a trauma-informed approach and the ‘Listen, Respect, Refer’ model, students will learn how to offer support to a survivor that has experienced sexual violence.  Participants will also learn about the barriers to disclosing.
